Senior Ministry Mission Statement

In accordance with our Parish Mission Statement, we will strive to provide the men and women of our parish community 60 years and over with social and spiritual wants and needs. In keeping with our Catholic evangelical values, all who would reach out to us regardless of age with the above needs will be assisted. Thus, all adults age 60 plus and/or need-based of our village, neighboring communities and organizations are invited to participate in our programs and functions. Our hope and faith in this ministry will assure our continued achievement at improving the quality of life for those persons designated above.

For more information or to join the Senior Ministry, please contact Marilyn McKernan at the Parish Office 626/355-1292 or Marilyn@st-rita.org.

Notice of meetings and events sponsored by Senior Ministry are usually published in the St. Rita Sunday Bulletin; are also available on the St. Rita website; or hard copies are available in the Parish Office or Church Vestibule.

Senior Ministry Outreach

Develop a Spiritual and Visitors Club whose purpose would be to gather a list of names of our homebound, parishioners, friends, neighbors, and family. Schedule a time to: visit, bring a light lunch, play a game of cards, say the rosary (if Catholic), or, any activity that would be appropriate for that particular person. This outreach to everyone might be unique to St. Rita Parish, and would, hopefully, be fulfilling and fun for all involved.

Goals of the Senior Ministry

Develop Spiritual programs or classes. Invite Speakers, regarding such subjects as health, legal issues and other items of interest. More game clubs as needed, Day Trip Travel Club, and Tai Chi Classes.
