Ana Uyemura Memorial Bench Dedication Ceremony

Greetings friends and fellow girl scouts,

Troop 8761 would like to invite you to attend the Ana Uyemura Memorial Bench Dedication Ceremony. It is set for Saturday, October 15 at 1 p.m. at Camp Mariposa, 615 E. Mariposa St., in Altadena. 

As many of you know, Ana Uyemura served the girl scout community in Sierra Madre and at St. Rita's School for over 40 years.  Sadly, we lost her to cancer in the spring of 2010.  Ana was instrumental in organizing the annual International Day event for countless years for the Mount Wilson Vista Council's Sierra Madre Service Unit.  This event was a major community building event and much anticipated by many scout troops each year.  She also worked tirelessly to bring a wealth of experiences to young girls in our community and, in doing so, enriched the lives of generations of girl scouts.

It is with great pride that Troop 8761 spearheaded an effort to raise money for a memorial bench to honor Ana's grand work.  This bench is being placed at Camp Mariposa for future generations.  We invite you to come and enjoy good company, light refreshments and the beautiful natural surroundings as we dedicate Ana's memorial bench and honor her hard work.
