Pastor's Newsnotes: 6/19/2011
Congratulations to our St. Rita Elementary School on another BANNER YEAR! As our Class of 2011 members have celebrated and moved on, and our remaining students have literally moved up a grade on the last day of school—teachers, staff, and administration can at least take a moment's breath and breath a sigh of relief. It has truly been a great year, if not a rather crazy one, marked not only by earthquakes, tsunamis, and threats of nuclear melt down, but it even included the prediction of the end of the world! Well done, Mrs. Harabedian and Company! We can hardly wait for 2011/2012! St. Rita School's 90th year! PARTY! [Note: had we gone with a 200-day school year, I might not be writing this until about July 15th—just saying.]
Celebrating our new deacon! Congratulations to John Hull on his ordination to the diaconate last Saturday at the Cathedral. St. Rita celebrated on last Sunday with a Noon Mass of Thanksgiving in gratitude of John's vocation.
Thank you to all the clergy and deacons who joined in our Liturgy; thank you to Paul Puccinelli and the Music Ministry for their special and thoughtful choice of hymns; thank you to those who prepared the Church environment and provided floral arrangements; thank you to all those who participated as lectors, servers, and Eucharistic ministers. The reception afterwards in O'Malley Hall was a special time to get to know Deacon John and his wife Marylee and their family. Many parishioners lined up to receive the special "First Blessing" of the newly ordained. Thank you to all those who made this reception so memorable: Andrea Bertollini & her crew for catering; Maureen Usle for her special cake; and to Bob and Joanne Singleton for providing music.
