Pastor's Newsnotes 2/19/2012

Thank you for your attentive listening to my appeal for Together in Mission at the Masses last week-end. This campaign is an opportunity for us as a parish, and as individuals, to respond to our sister parishes and schools in need.

COMMITMENT SUNDAY—TOGETHER IN MISSION

In today's Bulletin, and also available in the Vestibule, you will find a copy of the Together in Mission Annual Report to read and see what wonderful work has been done and dreams made true through these funds provided by you and me. The idea for this Sunday would be to prayerfully consider what you might be able to commit for the cause of our poorest parishes and schools of our Archdiocese, an archdiocese that stretches from the Orange County border to the East to the Westernmost end of Santa Barbara County, and from Catalina Island, South, to Lancaster and Palmdale in the North. Whether it be a "widow's mite" or a "king's ransom," your commitment to Together in Mission 2012 will go a long, long way to helping and holding up those most in need. And if you were not part of the 18% of St. Rita households that participated last year, won't you please consider participating this year? We need your help! Thank you for your prayerful consideration and commitment!

This week-end we announce Together In Mission 2012. Once again we are being asked to help support those inner city churches and schools that are unable to meet their expenses. The official campaign begins the week-end of February 11-12.

Anointing of the Sick—at the Cathedral on Saturday, February 11 at 2:30 pm. If you know someone who is facing surgery or is sick, please bring them for this special Mass and Anointing. Words of Gratitude from Louise Bigley

Dear St. Rita Family,

I want to thank everyone for the many prayers, cards and messages of encouragement that descended on me.  They were so welcome that I had to recover.  St. Rita is truly the Saint of the Impossible.

Love to all, Louise Bigley

(After a fall on her last birthday, Louise experienced complications in recovery that led to many months in the hospital and more than one brush with fatality. Since Christmas she has been attending Mass in a wheelchair and is becoming stronger day by day.)

Thank you to all who participated in Together in Mission 2011. I recently received confirmation from the Archdiocesan Office that we have reached—indeed slightly exceeded—our assessed goal. The parishes and schools of the inner city are helped immensely by your generosity.
