Altar serving is a wonderful ministry for children to begin gaining a sense of stewardship in our parish! This ministry is open to boys and girls who have received their First Communion and are in Grade 4 through adult. In the Catholic Church, altar serving is a privileged ministry reserved for children and young people who have demonstrated a desire to serve God and their community. Altar servers have the opportunity to participate in the liturgy of the Church, assist the priest during Mass, and learn more about the Catholic faith and its traditions.
Altar Servers are typically scheduled to serve at the Mass they usually attend, once or twice a month. Servers can also earn Service hours or stipends when they serve at funerals or weddings. For those students at St. Rita School, students can be released to serve at weekday services as approved by the administration.
If you or your child is interested in becoming an altar server, please fill out the interest form in the sidebar. When your information is received, our Altar Server Coordinator, Louellen Tschopp, will contact you to coordinate training sessions at your convenience.
