Sharing your gift of music is a beautiful way to serve others and to praise and glorify the creator! St. Rita offers many opportunities to consider your love for music in the context of service to your parish, from singing and playing instruments during Masses to assisting with audio/visual needs. All ages are welcome.
The Choir
The Choir is directed by Paul Puccinelli, our Director of Liturgy and Music, and sings a wide variety of repertoire, representing the diversity of traditions and the long history of Catholic church music. Serving at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass, special Liturgies on Holy Days, and most other major parish events, The Choir at St. Rita rehearses Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the church from September through June, with occasional extra rehearsals scheduled before important events. Please contact Paul for an interview.
Saturday Ensemble
This group consists of musicians high-school age and above, and provides a mix of contemporary Christian worship songs and traditional Catholic liturgical music at the Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed.
Cantors
Cantors are lay singers who lead the congregation in song while inviting full participation by everyone present. The cantor pro-claims the Responsorial Psalm as Psalmist, as well as the songs, hymns, and sacred texts of the liturgy. Cantors are responsible for preparing ahead of time the liturgical music for a given liturgical celebration. Because of the specialized nature of this ministry, confidence in leading psalms, vocal training, and sight-reading ability are considered requirements.
Instrumentalists
We are happy to include instruments in our Weekend Masses and special liturgies. If you play a string, brass, wind, or percussion instrument, consider contributing your talents for selected liturgies.
Audio/Visual/Livestream Ministry
The AV Ministry team will strive to be innovative and use available technologies to enhance our services, bring liturgy to a wide audience, and ultimately glorify God. You should have a high comfort level using computers, cameras, and audio-electronics. Training on the livestreaming process will be provided.
Music Assistants
There are many non-musical ways to contribute, from assisting with the organization of our music library, to helping with fundraising efforts.
